Indoor Succulent Garden Ideas

Are you looking for TRENDY farmhouse design?  If you like to stay on top of trends, then look no further than succulents! Greenery has always been an important element in design.  Indoor succulent gardens are a beautiful way to achieve adding greenery to any room.  For me personally, I have always felt that one of the most difficult rooms to add greenery to is the bedroom or bathroom.

And if you are like me and have no green thumb, then succulents are going to sound even better!  These hearty plants can handle a little neglect (like forgetting to water them for a week – oops!).  In fact, you should neglect them a little.  Here is a good article on how to care for succulents. I am no gardening expert, but even I can handle these instructions!

Succulents come in all shapes and colors.  I found a few pictures online that illustrate just how beautiful these flowers/arrangements can be.

In keeping with our rustic farmhouse design and indoor succulent garden ideas, I found these beautiful product ideas!

I love the idea of putting succulents into these planters so you have a little more tidiness to your greenery.  That will also allow you more room to write on the chalk background if you wish!  The metal buckets scream rustic farmhouse charm to me!

Again, I love the idea of the metal buckets.  These are interesting to me because the shape of them is so unique.  It is not the typical look of a metal bucket.  I love fresh takes on old ideas.  I also love that this option still gives us very clean lines and introduces the dark metal frame.

  1. The only succulent that I’ve tried planting was cactus and guess what? It died on me after half a year. Ever since then, I’ve been known to have the most un-nurturing green thumb – lol.

I have a large collection of Devil’s Ivy and they seem to thrive very well but I am planning to go back to some succulent planting for variety purposes.

What tips do you have for me to make it successful this time around?

    1. Cathy, that is a great question! Here are a few tips that I would suggest for growing succulents…and making them last! I have had a few trial and errors myself! First, for growing indoors, it is important to choose succulents that require low lighting and put them relatively close to a window. (They don’t necessarily need to be in the window sill.) Many websites recommend about 6 hours of sunlight a day. Second, watering them is important. You don’t want to overwater them, or you will kill them! The key is watering them enough to wet the soil and letting it dry, then water again. Finally, with water being so important – drainage is equally as important. Make sure you put them in something that will drain so the soil doesn’t stay soggy. The soil should almost dry out between watering.

Hope this helps!  Best of luck to you!
